AmCham Canada deeply concerned by the CRTC’s decision

AmCham Canada is deeply concerned by the CRTC’s decision to impose major new costs on American streaming services operating in Canada. At a sensitive moment in Canada-U.S. trade relations and ahead of CUSMA discussions, this decision risks becoming a serious barrier to continued economic prosperity between our two countries.

The new framework places significant financial burdens on U.S. companies while easing requirements on Canadian broadcasters, creating an uneven playing field that will discourage investment and innovation. Canada and the United States both benefit from an open, competitive, and collaborative digital economy.

This decision moves us in the wrong direction.
