AmCham Canada Convenes National Policy Conference Focused on the Upcoming CUSMA-USMCA Review

MARCH 25, 2026 -- Ottawa, On March 25th over 70 members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada’s National Policy Committees gathered in Ottawa to discuss the upcoming CUSMA-USMCA Review and implications for the Canada-U.S. trading relationship.

Guest speakers and presenters at the conference included the Hon. Ali Ehsassi, Parliamentary Secretary for Canada-U.S. Trade; U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra; The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Official Opposition; Charles Vincent, Sr. ADM ISED; Neil Herrington, Senior Vice President for the Americas, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Nik Nanaos, Chief Data Scientist, Nanos Research.

AmCham Canada President Rick Tachuk summarized the day’s proceedings by reaffirming that AmCham member companies on both sides of the border “remain fully committed to expanding and strengthening the most interdependent and integrated trading relationship in the world. Seeing the expeditious completion of a successful review that returns certainty and long-term prosperity to the North American economy remains our highest priority.”

In addition to remarks by senior government and leading industry executives, the conference also featured a panel discussion with presentations on key policy issues by each of AmCham Canada’s national policy committees which include: Trade; Technology & Innovation; Life Sciences (Pharma – MedTech); Defense; and, Energy Security.
