Lucrative Aviation, UAS and Energy Investment Opportunities in North Dakota
When: Thursday, June 12, 2014 - 12:00 - Thursday, June 12, 2014 - 14:00

North Dakota’s growing manufacturing, technology, agricultural and energy industries, enhanced with numerous incentives and easy access to government, are drawing some of the world’s most recognized companies into the state. Combined with a legendary work ethic and a highly educated workforce, North Dakota has become a dynamic place to establish and operate a business.  Meet Lieutenant Governor Drew H. Wrigley and accompanying delegates and explore the in-state investment climate in energy, aviation and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) industries at this upcoming luncheon.

Please note that time will be available for one-on-one meetings with the delegates after the lunch.

Investment Opportunities in UAS Industries
Backed by grant funds for conducting R&D in partnership with North Dakota universities, gap financing, loan and equity program, and unique business financing options with Bank of North Dakota set apart North Dakota as a profitable investment State for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems industry.

  • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) selected North Dakota as one of the six unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) research and test site operators across the country that will conduct critical research to assist the FAA in developing regulatory standards to foster integration of UAS into the national airspace. North Dakota plans to develop UAS airworthiness essential data and validate high reliability link technology. The State will also conduct human factors research. The partners involved in the Northern Plains UAS test site include University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, Northland Community & Technical College, State of North Dakota, Grand Forks Region Economic Development, and the Northern Plains UAS Test Site.

Investment opportunities in Aviation
Tax credits for research expenditures, corporate income tax credit for new and expanding businesses, tax exemptions for manufacturing equipment, low interest loans and other incentives set apart North Dakota as the State to grow your aviation business, technologies and know-how.

  • Grand Sky is a 217-acre development park adjacent to the Grand Forks Air Force Base, only 15 minutes from the headquarters of the FAA test site and from two main colleges dedicated to the study of unmanned aviation.  This Technology Park offers tenants runway access from the Grand Forks Air Force Base and vertical takeoff capabilities; flexible build-to-suit capabilities with airside and landside options; UAS data communication infrastructure; and partnerships with nearby UAS-focused academic institutions.

Investment Opportunities in Energy
Income tax exemptions, sales tax exemptions, property tax exemptions, financial incentives and other incentives, make the North Dakota energy sector a lucrative investment industry for Canadian investors.

  • North Dakota is the second largest oil-producing state in the nation with production of 933,000 barrels per day as of January 2014. The industry has 185 to 200 drilling rigs operating, 10,040 producing wells, employs 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, and has a $12 billion economic impact.  Between 2007-2012, North Dakota increased its energy production by 154 percent, a goal originally set to be accomplished by 2025.  More about Energy opportunities here.
