'Interesting Cocktails' - No Host

All Members and friends of AmCham Canada Pacific Chapter are intived to the traditional business cocktail recepiton, featuring Mr. Cecil Abrahams, Provost, Fairleigh Dickinson University with “Reflections of times with Nelson Mandela” address. 
Cecil Abrahams has been named FDU-Vancouver campus provost, effective July 1, 2009. A native of South Africa and a prominent opponent of apartheid, Abrahams spent nearly 30 years in Canada as a university professor and administrator. From 2004-2009 Cecil was Distinguished University Professor of Syracuse University in New York. Abrahams’ path to Fairleigh Dickinson University has taken him around the globe. Of Indian and European  ancestry, he grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and earned his bachelor’s degree from a Catholic college in Lesotho. While teaching high school English in South Africa, he became an anti-apartheid activist and colleague of Nelson Mandela’s in the African National Congress (ANC). Abrahams has been President and Executive member of several international academic and social bodies, and his political affiliation with South Africa’s governing African National Congress has made him an important part of the  transformation of South Africa’s democratic state.
