AmCham Atlantic Chapter Takes Lead at U.S.-Canada Savannah Conference
David Gough, Chair of the Atlantic Chapter, was AmCham's official representative at the SEUS - CANADA Conference held June 10-12 in Savannah, Georgia.  The conference was attended by over 325 delegates representing government leaders and business decision makers from the Southern U. S. States and the Canadian Provinces of Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador and Ontario.

The focus of the conference was the expansion and the harmonization of bilateral trade between Canada and the United States. Premiers Charest (Quebec), Graham (New Brunswick), Ghiz (Prince Edward Island), Doer (Manitoba) and Governors Bredesen (Tennessee), Perdue (Georgia) and Riley (Alabama) led their respective delegations. United States Ambassador Wilkins was also in attendance along with a number of AmCham members, including Ed Malone (Barnicke), Steve Miles (Fed Ex), Russ Sawchuk (North Carolina), Andre LeBlanc (South Carolina), Maria Arbulu (Georgia) and AmCham President Robert Bathgate (Tennessee). AmCham National Director Jonathan Rodwin (Kavinoky & Cook LLP) and the Policy Committee prepared a paper for presentation by David Gough on the topic "Trade & Security: Developing a Harmonized Approach".

AmCham Canada was able to provide a valuable private sector persepctive to the Savannah progtam by building alliances and partnerships, and looks forward to the continued involvement of its members in next year's conference to be held in St.John's in May, 2009.
